SPORTS Georgia QB Carson Beck Predicted to Join $212 Million Star NFL Quarterback

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, foregoing his final year of eligibility. During the 2024 season, Beck led the Southeastern Conference (SEC) with 28 touchdown passes and ranked third in passing yards, amassing 3,485 yards. However, he also led the conference in interceptions, throwing 12 over the season.

Beck’s season was cut short due to a UCL injury in his right elbow, which required surgery and rendered him unavailable for Georgia’s College Football Playoff games. In his absence, redshirt sophomore Gunner Stockton is expected to start in the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame.

Despite his injury, Beck is projected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Analysts have linked him to several NFL teams seeking quarterback talent. The Las Vegas Raiders, holding the eighth overall pick, are reportedly considering Beck as a potential selection. However, his recent elbow surgery and inconsistent performance in the 2024 season, including a drop in completion rate from 72.2% to 64.6% and an increase in interceptions, have raised concerns among some scouts.

Additionally, the New York Giants have scouted Beck among other top quarterback prospects as they contemplate their future at the position. With uncertainty surrounding their current quarterback situation, the Giants are evaluating options in the draft to secure a franchise quarterback.

Beck’s decision to enter the draft has been met with mixed reactions. ESPN analyst Todd McShay criticized the move, suggesting that Beck would have benefited from another year in college to develop his skills further, especially given his recent injury and the need for rehabilitation.

As the draft approaches, teams will closely monitor Beck’s recovery and evaluate his potential to transition to the professional level. His performance at Georgia, combined with his physical attributes and arm strength, make him a notable prospect, but his recent injury and fluctuations in performance add layers of complexity to his draft stock.
