Jaden Rashada, a highly touted quarterback recruit, is set to enter the NCAA transfer portal for the third time in as many years, marking his fourth collegiate affiliation.
Rashada’s collegiate journey began with a commitment to the University of Florida in 2022. However, a significant Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal, reportedly worth $13.85 million, fell through, leading to his departure from the program.
Subsequently, Rashada enrolled at Arizona State University in January 2023. He was named the starting quarterback for the Sun Devils’ season opener against Southern Utah, where he passed for 236 yards and two touchdowns, contributing to a 24-21 victory.
In April 2024, Rashada transferred to the University of Georgia, aiming to compete for the starting quarterback position. However, he did not appear in any games during the 2024 season.
Amidst his collegiate transitions, Rashada filed a lawsuit in May 2024 against Florida head coach Billy Napier and others, alleging fraud and breach of contract related to the failed NIL agreement. The lawsuit claims that Rashada was promised $13.85 million in NIL compensation over four years, with $1 million to be paid upfront on signing day.
As Rashada re-enters the transfer portal, he will have three seasons of eligibility remaining. His decision to seek a new program is influenced by the competitive landscape at Georgia, where he was vying for future starting opportunities.
