Alabama linebacker and team captain Deontae Lawson has announced his decision to return for the 2025 season, opting to utilize his remaining year of eligibility.
Lawson, a redshirt junior from Mobile, Alabama, started 11 games in the 2024 season before a lower leg injury against Oklahoma ended his season prematurely.
Despite the setback, he earned third-team All-SEC honors, recording 76 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass breakups, an interception, and a forced fumble.
His return bolsters Alabama’s defense, which is also set to welcome back linebacker Justin Jefferson and defensive tackle Tim Keenan III.
Lawson’s leadership and experience are expected to play a pivotal role in the Crimson Tide’s defensive lineup for the upcoming season.
