Aaron Murray gives his top 5 Georgia QBs in program history

Aaron Murray, a former star quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs, recently shared his top five quarterbacks in the history of the program. His list reflects a blend of individual accomplishments and team success.

1. Stetson Bennett: Murray considers Bennett the greatest in Georgia history, citing his leadership in back-to-back national championships (2021, 2022). Bennett also earned a spot as a Heisman Trophy finalist and displayed resilience throughout his career.

2. Aaron Murray: Despite his humility, Murray’s own record-breaking career is impossible to ignore. He still holds SEC records for passing yards and touchdowns, making him a legendary figure in Georgia football.

3. David Greene: Known for his consistency, Greene was the winningest quarterback in NCAA history at the time of his graduation in 2004. He led the Bulldogs to an SEC title in 2002, cementing his legacy.

4. Fran Tarkenton: A two-time All-SEC quarterback, Tarkenton guided Georgia to an SEC championship in 1959 and later achieved fame as an NFL Hall of Famer.

5. Matthew Stafford: Though his time at Georgia saw limited team success, Stafford’s immense talent and status as a former No. 1 NFL draft pick place him among the program’s best. His impressive college stats include a 25-touchdown season in 2008.

Murray’s rankings emphasize not only on-field success but also intangibles like leadership and historical significance, celebrating Georgia’s rich quarterback tradition.
