Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles goalkeeper, might participate in the Soweto Derby next season as Orlando Pirates are interested in signing him, reports BSNSports.com.ng. SoccerLaduma, a leading source, indicates that the Buccaneers are focusing on acquiring the Chippa United goalkeeper.
If this move doesn’t materialize, the Buccaneers are considering alternatives, including AmaZulu and Bafana Bafana star Veli Mothwa. Another target is Fabrice Ondoa, a 2017 AFCON winner with Cameroon.
Nwabali’s reported valuation of R30 million by Chippa United deterred Kaizer Chiefs, but the Pirates remain interested at that price. The 28-year-old goalkeeper shone for Nigeria at AFCON 2023, leading them to the final where they lost to hosts Ivory Coast.
