After high school, Allen was an All-American and a 5-star recruit with offers from almost every top program. He chose to play for Nick Saban at Alabama, where he had an outstanding career. He won a national title, was a unanimous All-American, received three first-team All-SEC honors, and won the Chuck Bednarik Award for the nation’s best defensive player.
Allen’s impressive college performance led to him being drafted early. The Washington Commanders (formerly the Redskins) selected him with the 17th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
As a rookie, he faced challenges but soon became a key player in Washington’s defense. Over eight NFL seasons, he has amassed 382 combined tackles and 39 sacks, earning Pro Bowl selections in 2021 and 2022.
