Lions news:Detroit Lions Eye Future with Guard Christian Mahogany in Final Draft Pick…
The Lions made significant improvements to their team in the 2024 draft, particularly in their secondary. However, their final pick could prove to be the most intriguing over time. Detroit managed to select Boston College guard Christian Mahogany with the 210th pick in the sixth round. Mahogany didn’t allow any sacks or quarterback hits and only gave up seven quarterback hurries in 422 pass-blocking reps last season. While he needs to refine some technical skills, he excelled in the run game.
General manager Brad Holmes commented that Mahogany played with a bit of a “dirt bag” mentality, which the rookie proudly embraced.
“Absolutely,” Mahogany said. “It’s something I take great pride in, and I’m glad Mr. Holmes, coach [Dan] Campbell, and everyone else recognized it. I look forward to bringing that to the NFL.”
