Shucking news:Cowboys Undefeated at Home, Struggle on the Road in 12-5 Season….
During their 12-5 regular season, the Cowboys were undefeated at home, going 8-0 at AT&T Stadium, extending their home winning streak to 16 games since losing the 2022 season opener to Tampa Bay. This streak ended with a first-round home playoff loss to Green Bay, 48-32.
All five of the Cowboys’ regular-season losses occurred on the road, where they finished 4-5. Including their 12-5 record in 2022, they have gone 8-9 on the road over the past two seasons, with nine of their last ten regular-season losses happening away from home
Improvement is needed. One of their four road victories last year was a close win against the Chargers in Los Angeles, 20-17, with first-year kicker Brandon Aubrey securing the win with a 39-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter. Additionally, the four road wins were against teams with a combined losing record of 17-51.
The question remains: do the Cowboys struggle on the road because of a “road voodoo” or the quality of their opponents? Last season, four of their five road losses were to playoff teams: San Francisco, Philadelphia, Buffalo, and Miami. The fifth loss, a surprising 28-16 defeat, was to the 4-13 Arizona Cardinals.
