Done deal:Detroit’s Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn Stays After Interviewing for Head Coach Roles

Ben Johnson interviewed for head coaching positions with Washington, Atlanta, Carolina, Seattle, and the Los Angeles Chargers, but ultimately decided to stay with Detroit as the offensive coordinator for a third season. He was a finalist for the AP Assistant Coach of the Year after Detroit ranked second in the NFL in passing, third in total offense, and fifth in both rushing and points per game.

Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn interviewed for head coaching roles with Washington, Tennessee, Atlanta, and Los Angeles but did not secure any of those positions. He continues with Detroit, leading a defense that ranked second in the NFL against the run, sixth in total quarterback pressures, and is expected to have a significantly improved secondary for 2024.

Special teams coordinator Dave Fipp also returns, having led one of the league’s top and most aggressive special teams units, achieving an 8-of-10 success rate on fake punts during his time in Detroit.
