Green expressed frustration with the inconsistencies in suspensions and penalties, saying, “You never know what the consequence will be. Sometimes it’s one thing, sometimes another; it’s always changing. There’s no clear rule: ‘Do this, get this consequence. Do that, get that consequence.’ It’s inconsistent.”
Regarding the Murray situation, Green commented, “It’s ridiculous that you get a $100,000 fine but no suspension for throwing a heat pack at an official. I say one word to an official and I face severe penalties.”
The NBA has noted that they consider past behavior when deciding on punishments, which they have mentioned in some of their statements regarding Green’s penalties.
