Good news:Maple Leafs to Introduce New Coach Craig Berube on Tuesday…
The Maple Leafs will introduce their new coach, Craig Berube, to the media on Tuesday morning, giving the 58-year-old from Calahoo, Alberta, a chance to enjoy the holiday weekend before diving into his role with the team, which hasn’t won the Stanley Cup since 1967.
Berube’s hiring was announced late Friday afternoon. He replaces Sheldon Keefe, who was dismissed on May 9, shortly after the Leafs were once again eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Bruins. In the Auston Matthews era, spanning eight seasons, the Leafs have only made it to the second round once.
The Leafs hope that Berube’s championship experience will benefit the team, a factor that likely set him apart from other candidates like Gerard Gallant and Todd McLellan.
