According to Stein, there is ongoing interest despite the murmurs of discontent in Cleveland regarding Allen’s refusal to take a painkilling injection for a rib injury, which kept him out of the Cavaliers’ last eight playoff games.
If the Cavaliers manage to extend contracts for both Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley this offseason, they might consider trading Allen.
Allen had been averaging 17.0 points per game in four playoff games before his injury in Game 4 of the first round. The injury-ridden Cavaliers were subsequently eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the second round on Wednesday.
