Five finalists contended for the award: Curry, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, DeMar DeRozan from the Chicago Bulls, Rudy Gobert representing the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers.
At 36, Curry has amassed a plethora of accolades over his 15-year career since being drafted by the Warriors as the 7th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. His achievements include two league MVP titles, four NBA championships, ten All-Star selections, four All-NBA first-team nods, and a spot on the league’s 75th Anniversary Team.
During the 2022-23 season, Curry was honored with the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award and recognized as the Social Justice Champion, clinching the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy.
In the 2023-24 season, Curry maintained an average of 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, earning him the title of Clutch Player of the Year.
