Reigning NCAA heavyweight champion Greg Kerkvliet will return to Penn State wrestling in 2024-25 for his sixth and final season of eligibility, he announced Wednesday night on Instagram.
“Let’s keep it rolling!” Kerkvliet wrote beneath an image declaring his return.
A four-time All-American, Kerkvliet went 20-0 last season en route to his first individual Big Ten and NCAA titles in March. On the year, he recorded two pins, four tech falls and a team-leading eight majors.
Following the season, Kerkvliet was a finalist for the Dan Hodge Trophy, which was won by fellow Nittany Lion Aaron Brooks.
For his career, Kerkvliet holds a 79-10 record, which includes runner-up finishes at the 2023 Big Ten and NCAA championships
Kerkvliet is one of three Nittany Lions to announce their returns for a final season of eligibility, joining NCAA runner-up Beau Bartlett and four-time national champ Carter Starocci.
The Nittany Lions will be looking to win their fourth consecutive team title in 2024-25. Penn State had eight All-Americans, six finalists and four champions while setting the team points record at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
