Christian McCaffrey suspended for first 6 games of 2021 seasond
Christian McCaffrey is being suspended without pay for the first six games of the 2021 season for violating the NFL Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances, the 49ers announced in a press release on Thursday afternoon.
Willis will be able to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games, however, and will be eligible to return to the 49ers active roster on Monday, Oct. 25 following the team’s Week 7 game vs. Indianapolis.
Willis was formerly a third-round pick of the Bengals back in 2017 out of Kansas State. After two seasons in Cincinnati, he was released in September 2019 and claimed by the Jets shortly after. He played just 11 games for New York between the 2019 and 2020 seasons before being traded along with a 2021 seventh-rounder to the 49ers in exchange for a 2022 sixth-round pick.
In seven games with Niners in 2020, he totaled just 13 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a career-high 2.5 sacks. He spent a short stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list from Nov. 23 to December 2 before being activated. On Jan. 1, he was placed on injured reserve.
On March 23, he re-signed with San Francisco on a one-year deal.

Kansas City’s defense took off with Omenihu. During the season’s first six weeks, the Chiefs were 29th in rushing EPA allowed and 23rd in success rate.
They go from Omenihu to Mike Danna – a fifth-round defensive end out of Michigan. Danna ranked 114th among all edge rushers during the first six weeks of the season in win percentage, per PFF. He was graded 138th against the run. The Chiefs’ depth takes a massive hit heading into the biggest game of the season.
