Leaky Black scores career-high in Hornets’ last game of the season
The NBA regular season came to a dramatic end Sunday, and it saw UNC basketball fan favorite Leaky Black hit his NBA career high in points (11) efficiently.
The Charlotte Hornets took on the Cleveland Cavaliers, with nothing to play for except scouting talent for next season. That said, players who often watch from the sidelines, were given the opportunity to play, including Black, who logged 32 minutes (career high), which is 22 minutes higher than his season average (10.9 MPG).
Black took advantage of the playing time, delivering an all-around performance to help push the Hornets past the Cavaliers 120-110. Black finished with 11 points (4-4 FG, 2-2 3PT), six rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block.
During halftime, Black got a sideline interview, speaking about the extra playing time.
Black bounced back and forth between the NBA and G-league this season as he continued to polish his 3 and D style the Hornets drafted for. This season, Black has been efficient at scoring (48% FG, 45% 3PT).
The Hornets’ investment has panned out so far, so it will be intriguing to see how they utilize Black next year.
